SNMP Network Monitoring
The ViaLite Classic and ViaLiteHD SNMP network monitoring cards are IP network devices that allows management and control data to be accessed over any network management system. This interface allows operators to monitor the entire installation from a single remote terminal. In addition, VialiteHD SNMP cards connected over an optical fiber link can be used to extend a customer's local area network (LAN) to a location remote from the control room.
Implementation is simple, an engineer can quickly set up banks of ViaLite equipment by accessing the front panel LAN port on the SNMP module. This enables fast and easy installation or reconfiguration of a fiber link network. Under normal operational conditions the module can be permanently connected to the users network and the health of the ViaLite network monitored at any time.
The built-in graphical user interface (GUI) offers a representation of the ViaLite modules connected in the ViaLite rack. This interface can be accessed from any standard web browser using the IP address of the SNMP Network Monitoring Module. The operational status of the RF modules and the power supplies of any rack connected is displayed. The voltage and temperature of the SNMP module are also displayed. This page can be used when installing and commissioning a new ViaLite rack or as a local monitor to test operation of ViaLite modules installed.
The open architecture of SNMP module’s MIB allows management of the alarm information using a range of third party management systems when connected via the local area network as part of the users monitoring and control (M&C) system. The ViaLite SNMP network monitoring platform is designed to make the process of tracking network component performance straightforward and is an invaluable diagnostic and trouble shooting tool.
Alarm Monitoring
Vialite Classic and ViaLiteHD Alarm Concentrator/Summary Alarm cards can be used to monitor ViaLite equipment fitted in the same rack. Each card is able to report alarms by front panel visual indicators, audio alarms and by status of it’s on-board relays. Alarms are latched therefore they will continue to be reported until acknowledged. The CPU monitors all rack alarm outputs and controls all RF card outputs. DIP switches are available for manual alarm screening if preferred. I2C bus is used at start up to monitor active slots for automatic alarm masking.
